The Kumuhau project is the biggest build to date for Honolulu Habitat, and today's event marks their 25th anniversary. Since 1988, Honolulu Habitat has built 67 affordable homes for Oʻahu families.

Another brand new home has been designed and constructed by Hawaiʻi Community College students in Hilo, Hawaiʻi.

The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands today received critical legislative support for a new FY 2014 operating budget which includes $9.6 million of general funds for administrative and operating costs, allowing the trust fund and other revenues generated by the Department that currently fund department operational expenses to now be made available for the future development of Hawaiian Homestead projects and programs.

The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands is alerting residents, business owners and nearby property owners that after multiple test blasts conducted last week, its contractor Blasting Technology will proceed with blasting activities Monday through Friday between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. through May 31, 2013.

Governor Neil Abercrombie and Hawaiian Homes Commission Chair Jobie Masagatani joined the Nānākuli Housing Corporation (NHC) today to break ground on the first "Kawelo Cottage" built for Dustin & Sheena Barrett on their Hawaiian homestead in Nānākuli, O'ahu.
