A new pilot program announced today by the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands will use federal funds to cover the cost of a packaged home for Hawaiian homesteaders holding leases to vacant lots they have yet to build a home upon.

A new tradition is cropping up in Kēōkea, Mauiʻs only agriculture Hawaiian homestead.

The court agreed that DHHL has the legal right to possession of the property, and ordered a writ of possession in favor of DHHL, effective forthwith.

The 24.5-acre project formerly known as East Kapolei II-B sits on the ‘Ewa Plain, mauka of the ‘Ewa Villages Golf Course and east of Kualaka‘i Parkway behind the Kroc Community Center.

Gov. Neil Abercrombie today announced the release of $1.15 million in capital improvement grant funds for the Kapolei Community Development Corporation.
