Hawaiian Homes Commission Chair William J. Ailā, Jr. issued a statement on the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s announcement of a $22.3 million Native Hawaiian Housing Block Grant to support the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands.

“While the recent legislative session and the infusion of funding is historic for the Department, the everyday work of enacting good public policy continued as well,” said Hawaiian Homes Commission Chair William J. Ailā, Jr. “We made great strides this session with infrastructure maintenance, cesspool upgrades and enforcement on Hawaiian Home Lands. All measures that will improve the overall lives of the beneficiary community.”

Notice to possible successors of the following deceased leaseholders, who died and failed to designate a successor(s) to their Hawaiian Home Lands lease under the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act, 1920, as amended.

The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, through its contractors DGML, LLC and Kaikor Construction Group, will continue site improvement work on the Waiokeola stream and drainage channel in Waimānalo, Oʻahu. Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 13, 2022 and is anticipated to continue intermittently through the end of May 2023.

The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, through its Kaikor Construction Group, Inc., will conduct sidewalk and stormwater basin repairs to Kapolei homestead communities including the Kaupeʻa, Maluʻōhai, and Kānehili Subdivisions.
