A home built by students in the Hawai‘i Community College Model Home Program was dedicated today in the Hawaiian homestead community of Keaukaha.

The State Department of Hawaiian Home Lands is teaming up with the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa to offer architecture and engineering students the opportunity to use DHHL's land, homes, and development projects, as a learning laboratory.

Papakōlea homesteaders Frances and Wallace Naone-Bailey can rest assured that their brand-new house will be a place their kids and grandkids always call home.

Since 2002, the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands has received funds under the Act in the form of a block grant known as the Native Hawaiian Housing Block Grant.
