Kīnohi and Rusty Santos were joined by their extended ʻohana yesterday to break ground for construction on their new home in the Hawaiian homestead community of Kumuhau in Waimānalo, Oʻahu.

The Hawaiian Homes Commission is calling on the U.S. Department of the Interior to consult with the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands and the beneficiaries of the Hawaiian Home Lands Trust regarding federal rules proposed in May 2015.

Department of Hawaiian Home Lands welcomed current and emerging leaders from around the world this week to discuss alternative energy development on Hawaiian home lands.

The Department has had a long relationship with the U.S. Department of the Interior and appreciates DOI’s efforts in supporting its mission established by the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act.

The Senate Committee on Hawaiian Affairs confirmed Hawaiian Homes Commissioners Doreen Napua Canto, Pua Chin, and Michael Kahikina today at the Capitol.
