Since 1965, over 4,104 students have participated in the program which provides students on-the-job skills in home construction and provides an affordable home to an applicant on the DHHL’s waiting list.

The blessing marked the launch of the Kealahou program, a reintegration home building pilot program that is a partnership between DHHL, the Department of Public Safety and the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College.

DHHL and Habitat for Humanity Leeward ‘Oahu have two more homes in Kanehili that are scheduled to begin construction in 2019.

On Saturday, March 2 the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands and Gentry Homes invited 60 families to view their new lots in the Ka`uluokaha`i master-planned community in Kapolei.

The Hawai`i State Senate recently voted to advise and consent Zachary Helm to the Hawaiian Homes Commission. Commissioner Helm will represent the island of Molokai and his term runs through June of 2020.
