Department of Hawaiian Home Lands

The Hawaiian Homes Commission adopted Resolution No. 304 to honor the late Hawaiʻi County Mayor and Hawaiian Home Lands lessee William Punapaiaʻalaikahala Kenoi at its Tuesday, February 16, 2021, regularly scheduled meeting.

Hawaiian Homes Commission Chair William J. Ailā, Jr. issued the following statement following the Senate Committee on Hawaiian Affairs’ amendments to SB 1321.

The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, through its contractors G70 and The Limtiaco Consulting Group, Inc. will conduct inspections of drainage and sewer easements, along with a construction access assessment in the Papakōlea-Kewalo community on February 16, 2021, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting.

Under the freshly funded relief program, the Department has partnered with the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement as its administrator.

A Hawaiian homestead property in Waimānalo was the subject of a search warrant executed by the Honolulu Police Department on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, following reports of illegal activities. The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands had been simultaneously investigating the home for a potential lease violation stemming from a suspected illegal game room.
