‘Āina Mauna Land Use Requests

Overview

The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) hosted an opportunity for beneficiary comments on two Land Use Request Application proposals received from beneficiary organizations for lands in the ‘Āina Mauna.

Applications were received by Koa Kia’i, a beneficiary wait-list organization, with a proposal led by Kepa Kaeo and Kalaniakea Wilson. And, Waimea Nui Community Development Corporation, a homestead organization, with a proposal led by Mike Hodson and Micah Kamohoali’i.

Both applicants have submitted land use request applications for a long-term land disposition for four miles of Maunakea Access Road owned by DHHL and for additional lands in C1 (in the ‘Āina Mauna Legacy Plan) for programming.

Both applicants proposed revenue generating activities and stewardship programs.
