DHHL Reminds Hawaiʻi County Beneficiaries of Halted Permits, Reservations

(Kapolei, Hawaiʻi) – In line with the County of Hawaiʻi and Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) closures in Hawaiʻi County, the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) is reminding beneficiaries that permits and reservations for camping at parks, pavilions, and halls on DHHL land remain on hold as the state faces the continued rise of COVID-19 cases.

DHHL extended its halt of permits and reservations for camping at parks, pavilions, and halls on DHHL land in early August through October 31, 2020.

The following Hawaiʻi Island parks and facilities are impacted:

  • Kūhiō Hale
  • Puhi Bay
  • Keaukaha Beach Park

In addition to the Hawaiʻi Island impacts, DHHL parks and facilities on Maui, Molokaʻi, Oʻahu, and Kauaʻi also remain affected.

Maui

  • Ka Hale Pōmaikaʻi (Paukukalo Community Center)

Molokaʻi

  • Moʻomomi Beach Park
  • Kapuāiwa Grove
  • Kalanianaʻole Hall

Oʻahu

  • Hale Ponoʻī

Kauaʻi

  • Anahola Beach Park

Hawaiʻi County’s closure of all beach and shoreline parks runs from September 4, 2020 through September 19, 2020. In addition, the DLNR Division of State Parks has closed all State coastal and beach park areas on Hawaiʻi Island, effective September 4, 2020 through September 18, 2020.
