Nonprofit Board Governance
Effective board governance is critical to ensuring that a nonprofit organization delivers on its mission,
manages its resources effectively, and maintains its reputation. This half-day workshop provides board
members with tools to help them become more engaged and informed and to fully understand the
commitment of serving on a nonprofit board. Topics covered are:

- Essential Board Functions
- Core Legal & Financial Responsibilities of the Board and Risk Management Strategies
- Dynamic Teamwork: The Board/Staff Relationship
- How to Build a Strong Board
- Creating Organizational Quality (Board Self-Assessment and Strategic Planning)
- Resources for Boards and Organizations

This workshop is open to the following:
- Homestead community associations and other beneficiary organizations
- Homestead community residents
- Other nonprofits sponsored by a beneficiary organization
*Beneficiary organizations are encouraged to bring community partners that serve native Hawaiians
Note: priority given to homestead community associations and other beneficiary organizations
To register:
- Please complete registration form. Registration deadline: 4:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2015
- Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Seating is limited to 30 participants.
- This training is provided at no cost to beneficiaries. Note that refreshments will not be provided at any training sessions. You are welcome to bring your own refreshments.
