Beneficiary Consultation meeting

DHHL Planner Julie Cachola gave her O’ahu Island Plan presentation at Waipahu High School last night. Meetings continue tonight at Farrington High School and tomorrow night at Kalaheo High School. The public is invited.

WAIPAHŪ, OʻAHU – Dozens of Oʻahu Hawaiian homes beneficiaries helped launch the first of three Beneficiary Consultation meetings being held islandwide this week for the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands’ Oʻahu Island Plan.

The Department is developing the Oʻahu Island Plan to guide the management and development of trust lands on Oʻahu over the next 20 years.

Those in attendance were briefed on DHHL’s current land holdings on Oʻahu, as well as beneficiary demand for homesteading on the island. Attendees discussed preliminary recommendations on land use designations and possible land acquisitions for future homestead development.

Beneficiary consultation continues tonight, Wednesday, July 17, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Farrington High School Cafeteria, and Thursday, July 18, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Kalāheo High School Cafeteria.

Beneficiaries have until Monday, August 19, 2013, to send feedback on the Oʻahu Island Plan. To send feedback, visit the Oʻahu Island Plan Beneficiary Consultation page, and scroll down to the “Leave Your Feedback” section.
