Koʻolaupoko Moku Land Use Request, Oʻahu

Background: The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) received an unsolicited request for the long-term use of approximately 60-70 acres of Trust Lands in the Koʻolaupoko Moku on Oʻahu. The Land Use Request was received from the Koʻolau Foundation to establish the Haʻikū Valley Cultural Preserve. The Foundation’s major goals are as follows:
- Establish a cultural preserve
- Convert the OMEGA Station transmitter building into the Koʻolau Museum and Cultural Center
- Develop a cultural and environmental education program within the ahupuaʻa as a living and learning environment.
- Provide an accessible place to gather or learn about the use of Hawaiian medicinal plants.
Ko`olau Foundation Comment Period
Virtual Beneficiary Consultation Meeting
DHHL consults with beneficiaries who live in the area before making a decision to commit Trust Lands for a long period of time. The virtual Beneficiary Consultation for this Land Use Request is scheduled for Tuesday, April 25, 2023, 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. via Zoom .
