The blessing marked the launch of the Kealahou program, a reintegration home building pilot program that is a partnership between DHHL, the Department of Public Safety and the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College.

DHHL and Habitat for Humanity Leeward ‘Oahu have two more homes in Kanehili that are scheduled to begin construction in 2019.

Each year, as part of its compliance with 24 CFR Part 1006, Title VIII of the Native American Housing Assistance and Self Determination Act, the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands must file an approved annual housing plan with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

On Saturday, March 2 the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands and Gentry Homes invited 60 families to view their new lots in the Ka`uluokaha`i master-planned community in Kapolei.
