Gov. Signs $200M OHA Settlement Bill

In ceremonies held today at Washington Place, the home of Queen Lili’uokalani, Gov. Neil Abercrombie signed into law the bill passed by the Legislature last week conveying Kaka’ako Makai lands to OHA in settlement of $200 million in past-due claims owed to Hawaiians since Statehood in 1959. The Governor is surrounded by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs trustees and CEO, U.S. Sen. Daniel K. Akaka, and state legislators who facilitated passage of the bill. – Photo: Blaine Fergerstrom
