Anahola Solar Energy Project

Aloha Anahola & Kapaʻa Beneficiaries:

The Hawaiian Homes Commission has authorized me to negotiate the terms of a license agreement with the Homestead Community Development Corporation (HCDC) and Kauaʻi Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC) for the following facilities on Hawaiian home lands at Anahola, Kauaʻi:

Service Center Office Building – 5 acre KIUC utility service center consisting of an administrative office building and staging site for utility services for East Kauai. Estimated cost of $3 million.

Solar Project – 55 acre ground mount solar project to generate 10 megawatts of power to the KIUC grid. Estimated cost of $50 million.

As part of our due diligence efforts, the department will conduct a Beneficiary Consultation to discuss this project on Monday, November 21, 2011, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Kanuikapono Charter School, 4333 Kukuihale Road, Anahola, Kauaʻi. The meeting notice and agenda are enclosed.
