The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands has opened a public comment period as part of the Beneficiary Consultation process on the draft legislative proposal to authorize limited gaming in the form of a single integrated resort on Department lands designated for commercial use.

The Department of Hawaiian Homes Lands has scheduled two beneficiary consultation meetings following the Hawaiian Homes Commission’s decision to approve a draft legislative proposal to authorize limited gaming in the form of a single integrated resort property on Department lands designated for commercial use.

The Hawaiian Homes Commission has approved a pilot loan program and an associated budget for an initiative that will provide applicants on the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands Waiting List with down payment assistance for a fee-simple residential purchase off Hawaiian Home Lands on Oʻahu.

In a 5-4 vote on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, the Commission approved item C-1 on the HHC regularly scheduled December agenda seeking approval of a Legislative proposal to authorize limited gaming in the form of a single integrated resort property on Hawaiian Home Lands designated for commercial use.

Item C-1 on HHC’s regularly scheduled December 2020 agenda requests that the Commission authorize limited casino gaming in the form of a single integrated resort property in Kapolei, Oʻahu on lands already designated for commercial use.
